Pay it Forward – Celebrating Education and Business Partnership

Today our Corporate Services Manager, Matthew Buckley, and our People and Culture Manager, Lisa Thorne, had the privilege of participating in mock interviews at a thriving nearby Gloucestershire school, one of the largest schools in the county.

Over 250 Year 11 students, each armed with their completed application forms, were ready to face their first professional interview. This wasn't just another school day; it was an important step in preparing these young individuals for real-world interviews that lie ahead, whether for sixth form, college, university, or employment.

We aimed to provide a realistic interview experience, complete with probing questions and constructive feedback. It's easy to forget how daunting the interview process can be, especially when you're just starting out. We wanted to offer a safe space for these students to practice, learn, and build their confidence.

What stood out most was the enthusiasm and intelligence of every student we encountered; they represented the school very well. It was a genuine pleasure to listen to their experiences, both inside and outside the classroom. They spoke passionately about their extracurricular activities, their aspirations, and their plans for the future.

These mock interviews weren't just about preparing students for formal questioning; they were about fostering essential life skills. They learned to articulate their strengths, handle unexpected questions, and present themselves professionally. These are skills that will serve them well in any situation, regardless of their chosen path.

By facilitating this education and business partnership we are able to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace, we can provide students with invaluable real-world experience that they may otherwise not receive. It's a win-win situation: students gain practical skills and insights, while businesses contribute to the development of future talent.

These young people are bright, capable, and ready to take on the challenges ahead. We wish them the very best of luck, not only in their future interviews but also in their upcoming exams and the exciting chapters that lie ahead.
