Does Your Child Need Additional Tutoring In English or Maths?

We welcome primary and secondary school children of all abilities whether advanced, experiencing difficulties or somewhere in between. Children come to our Eastleigh centre for additional tutoring for a number of reasons, including the following:

  • Pupils lacking confidence in English and Maths
  • Pupils falling behind at school
  • Reading, writing, handwriting or spelling issues
  • Struggling with maths concepts and skills
  • Specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia
  • SATs, GCSE or Common entrance
  • Assisting pupils who have missed schooling as a result of moving area/school, or illness

What We Do

How English and Maths Tuition Works

In order to advise parents how we can help their child, we carry out an educational assessment, which is free of charge and without obligation of enrolment. The results are discussed in full with parents and will highlight any areas of weakness.

Upon enrolment an individualised learning programme is then devised to meet the child’s needs. The Kip McGrath method of tuition includes a combination of:

  • Written activities
  • Computer assisted learning
  • Structured worksheets and work books
  • Homework set and marked weekly
  • Individual tuition from a qualified teacher
  • Opportunities to work independently
  • Reward systems to encourage motivation, confidence and self esteem
  • Tutoring in a safe and focused learning environment

Tuition takes place after school and on Saturdays with each teaching session lasting 80 minutes. Although each tutor is responsible for up to 5 pupils, each one receives individual attention. No pupil has the same programme because each has individual needs. The emphasis is on one to one teaching where each pupil learns at his/her own pace and where strong emphasis is placed on motivation and success. Our aim is to give children the confidence and skills needed to achieve their full academic potential.

We provide a relaxed, friendly and positive learning environment where children feel safe, comfortable and happy and where they are free from distractions.

Testimonials

Parent and Children's Testimonials

The following are genuine testimonials from delighted parents and children who have attended our Kip McGrath Eastleigh centre

Clive and Louise of Winchester write:

We were keen to use after school tuition, but were wary about the qualifications of potential tutors as our son has potential ADD. The service provided at Kip McGrath Eastleigh is excellent! excellent! excellent! We like the way the staff are confident in what they believe in without knowing the child’s medical and educational background. Our son is calmer at school and home knowing that there is someone to help him. He has the ability to complete tasks now that he had no understanding of prior to Kip McGrath.

Rebecca of Chandlers Ford writes:

I think the service provided by Kip McGrath Eastleigh is excellent. You feel that both Todd and Sean care about your child. They both have time for you and you feel that they are interested in the progress of your child, not just in the subject they are being tutored in. I like the atmosphere at the centre. The children learn in a friendly environment. Saffron loves coming to her lesson. She has so much more confidence. This has helped her achieve all her targets set at school this term. She has gone up a group in both maths and English.

Helen of Eastleigh writes:

We had a parents’ meeting at school with Ryan’s teacher and she said that he was making very slow progress with his reading and writing and he wasn’t really interested in either. The service at Kip McGrath is friendly and very helpful. They provide a fun way to learn. Enrolling Ryan is one of the best things we have done for his future. The work given is at Ryan’s level and is not too overwhelming to him, and he gets one to one help. Since he started Ryan has gone up a level in his reading. His writing is slowly progressing and his confidence is growing. His teacher has remarked on how he is getting on better at school.

Nigel of Fareham writes:

Emily had tried another tuition programme which she found boring, so we were looking for a programme that had variety and which she would enjoy. The assessment at Kip McGrath was very comprehensive and gave an accurate account of Emily’s ability. I think the variety in a lesson is very good and the fact that classes are kept small means that Sean can spend time with Emily. The service provided is very good – Sean and Todd are always very helpful. The friendly, relaxed atmosphere that they create makes Emily want to come every Saturday. It is good that homework is provided and that it is not too much. Since enrolling, Emily has moved up a group at school for reading.

Mary of West End writes:

We decided to find out about Kip McGrath after receiving Baylie’s end of year report. It was obvious from this that she was struggling and in need of expert help. We are delighted with the service provided. The staff are very approachable. Baylie obviously feels very comfortable and I feel this has aided her confidence. The best thing is that Baylie actually looks forward to her lessons at Kip. I never imagined she would actually enjoy maths. In the relatively short time she has been attending, Baylies’s confidence has improved. She is now able to concentrate and produce work to a higher standard – unaided.

Jamie says:

I've achieved a B in maths. Couldn't have done it without you guys! Thank you so much.

Charmaine says:

I got a level 5 in my SATs! I am very proud of myself and I couldn't have achieved my level without your help.

Sam says:

B in Literature. C in Language. Thank you for everything. Because of your help, I passed!

Abbie says:

I feel much more confident in maths now, and that's all down to you.

Georgia says:

Thank you for all your help and support. My SATs results were much better than I expected because of your help.
